Darren Paul

Darren Paul – B (1944) Darren was born in Belfast in 1944. He has always had a loving relationship with art. As a youth he remembers fondly art classes under the tutorage of Desmond Kinney and attending lectures delivered by Neil Shawcross at Belfast Technical College. Darren is now a full time professional artist, and lives with his wife in a small picturesque village off the coast of Antrim, Northern Ireland. Such an atmosphere is conductive to painting and inspiration comes unbidden. Darren is an Irish Artist who enjoys working with light, shade and colour and in the tactile quality of heavy paint on canvas (Impasto). Darren’s skill lies in his technique of storytelling on canvas. The subjects he chooses to paint demand a high degree of skill, and he shows us this with confidence and assuredness as he captures the moment, experience and mood of the time. His style is impressionistic and figurative. Darren’s paintings are in many corporate collections in Ireland, the Continent and the USA. 1944 Born in Belfast 1960 Belfast College of Art 1992 Group Exhibition Malone House 1993 Solo Exhibition Queens University Belfast 1994 Down County Council Art Exhibition (Award Winner) 1995 Commission by Quality Inn Hotels 1996 Commission for Baroness Denton MSNI 1998 Commission for Daily Mirror Group Newspaper 1999 Exhibition The Art Gallery Hilsborough 2001 Commission for the Ministry of Defence 2001 Exhibition Jonathan Swift Gallery Carrickfergus 2002 Group Exhibition Jorgenson Gallery Dublin 2003 Group Exhibition Prentice Gallery Portadown 2004 Group Exhibition Spiller Art 2005 Solo Exhibition Spiller Art
